Description:
Baby Raven Reads is an innovative award-winning program that promotes early language development and early literacy skills for Alaska Native families with children up to age 5 years old who are not yet enrolled in kindergarten. Research-based cultural teaching resources and methods improve academic achievement in Indigenous students. Literacy skills are enhanced by translating cultural strengths into home literacy practices. This program provides family events, monthly literacy kits, training for care providers, professional development for early childhood educators, and free culturally relevant, place-based books to enrolled families.
